Just a week before the Germans of the German Roadracing championship will invade the Dutch TT circuit in Assen it sounds negative, but is absolutely positively meant.
The guys in the IDM championship are coming over to pick up some good championship points, because the championship is almost coming to an end.
Not only there will be some competition from fellow Dutch Superbike and Supersport600 riders there is also one Superstock600 rider and one World Superbike rider on track not only to compete but also to do some testing with clutches and electronics to develop the 2010 bike and do research for the 2011 bike.
Max Neukirchner a rider from Gerrit ten Kate’s Hannspree WSBK team is joined by Florian Marino who will ride a Honda CBR600rr tuned by team ten Kate whilst Neukirchner will ride a Honda CBR1000RR also prepped by ten Kate.
Last weekend during the Rizla Racing Days there were a couple of IDM riders in name of Barry Veneman, Werner Daemen and former WSBK rider Karl Muggeridge who did their testing during this event.
Last year I went to the IDM for the first time and I have to say it can be compared with British Superbikes, the bikes are a little bit slower then the World Superbike machines, but the class is very interesting to see.
Not even because BMW did their first outing in this class the KTM RC8R Superbike machine is beautiful to watch and hear.
Normally I’m not that enthusiastic because I’m just doing my job on the sidelines of the track instead of being a fan boy ( that comes later when I’m back home and view the pictures that I make ) I’ll enjoy the three days in Assen during the IDM round.
